An Iftar with Singapore Kampong Vibe

Invited by the Rewang Team, I joined Prof Huda and friends for iftar at Kebon Dapor, an urban farm in Punggol. Warm hosts, kampong vibes, and a cosy space made it feel like balik kampung without crossing borders.

Last Friday, I was invited by the Rewang Team for iftar at Kebon Dapor in City Sprouts Punggol, just a short walk from Riviera MRT.

I came along at the kind invitation of Prof Huda, and was joined by Mbak Nino and Mbak Anin. When we arrived, Raja, the founder, and Yulianna warmly welcomed us. Straight away, the place already felt like visiting an old friend’s house. No awkwardness. Just good energy.

Kebon Dapor is one of the urban farms inside the City Sprouts complex in Punggol. They occupy plot a10, and the space is just nice. Not too big “yang bisa kesasar”, and it is just enough room for a proper garden, some tables, and that low-key kampong style way of sitting down “angkringan” and yapping story.

In Singapore, space is “mahal”. So when you find a spot like this, with plants growing happily and people gathering especially for buka puasa together, it feels special.

A bit like mudik, but without crossing the border.
