Reading Do Agile by Tim Drake came at the right time. I finished it while recovering in the hospital, and shortly after, I faced redundancy at Pinterest.
Do Agile: Futureproof Your Mind. Stay Grounded by Tim Drake is my third book from The Do Series by thedobook.co I read, and honestly, it arrived right on time. This book feels like the book we all need in an era full of plot twists. Work, life, economy, everything feels like it refreshes itself without asking.
I finished this book in mid-January while recovering in the hospital. Not exactly a productivity poster moment, but life happens. One line stayed with me, “Being agile means we have a mindset that is positive and ready for action.”
Not long after finishing the book, reality knocked. I was made redundant and lost my job. Coincidence or divine timing, Allah SWT knows best. Suddenly, the book was not just a theory. It became practice.
My biggest takeaway from this book is this. Being agile is not just about saying “I never give up”. It is about having a clear purpose, staying calm, building good discipline, and choosing the right environment. People matter. Energy matters. Mindset matters. We also need to feel good about ourselves and train our eyes to see the good in every situation.
This reminded me of an Islamic teaching I try to hold close. Allah SWT always has a better plan, even when the plot feels confusing.
This month, I became part of the 15 percent impacted by redundancy at Pinterest. I want to say thank you to the team at Pinterest for the trust, the partnerships, and the lessons along the way. I learned a lot, and I truly appreciate growing together.
As I step into my next chapter, I am open to roles in partnerships, marketing, content, or business development. I bring a unique perspective as a Singaporean born in Indonesia, with deep exposure to how business works across Southeast Asia, especially in media, entertainment, and content business. If you have leads, advice, or just a good coffee chat, I would be very grateful.
Thank you, and insya Allah our paths will cross again.
