From the JMFW 2026’s runway, Islamic Fashion Institute’s Vania Andhini Mumtaz Adhyanto introduces “The Lost Princess.”
This look blends the calm elegance of a Yogyakarta palace heir with the confidence of a modern city professional. It creates a modest style that feels quietly powerful, regal, and very now.
The design becomes a gentle conversation between contemporary modest fashion and the royal heritage of Yogyakarta batik. It brings together structure, volume, and tradition in a way that feels rooted yet boldly modern.
Here, Yogyakarta batik steps into the world of couture. The waist is softly shaped, while a peplum-style overskirt in rich black and gold batik becomes the star of the outfit. It recalls classic Yogya motifs with strong geometry and warm contrast colors like black, white, and brown gold. The shimmering surface hints at beloved patterns such as parang and ceplok, long tied to refinement and deeper meaning in Yogyakarta court culture.
All these elements create a look that moves with ease between heritage and the present day. A love letter to Yogya’s batik legacy, seen through the fresh lens of global modest fashion.
